Jonas Gerard is primarily a self-taught artist. He was born in Casablanca, Morocco, in 1941, of French and Brazilian ancestry. His work includes acrylics on canvas, digital giclee, mixed media and found objects collage, three-dimensional wall-hung painted wood sculpture and painted wood and steel freestanding sculpture. His work can be found in the collections of the Bass Museum of Art in Miami, the Boca Museum of Art in Boca Raton, the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood, FL, the University of California at Berkeley Museum, the Jewish Museum in Miami and the Smithsonian Institute. He currently maintains a studio in Miami Beach, FL and a studio/gallery in Asheville.
