Brigid has more than 30 years experience as co-owner and manager of photo retail and processing labs. She also curates and hosts photographic exhibitions and actively exhibits photo-based art and painting throughout the Southeast.
Technically speaking, the work begins with a black and white photographic print- the vehicle for conversation with paint. From that point Brigid becomes involved in exploring the contrast between the objectivity of the photograph and the subjectivity of the painted image, between illusion and reality. Photography represents the occasion to observe and record- to be totally engaged with the external world. Painting provides the opportunity to daydream- to indulge in the internal and free floating world of imagination.
