Antique Wooden Panel Door and bronze mirror.
For David it is impossible to view an old discarded item and not observe an intrinsic beauty or usefulness. Older items have so much history, so much life; perhaps they were created by hand, or at least in a simpler time when more care went into their manufacture. These items have developed character and absorbed energy throughout their life. For him it’s an adventure to find within an old object a new usefulness and beauty beneath the distress that time and use have bestowed, or through a combining of objects to create something new and beautiful. At present his artwork expresses itself mostly in “mirror and glass art”… the altering of panel doors or windows refitted with bronze or silver mirror, colored glass or original stain glass pieces.
This piece is a two panel section of antique panel door distressed to reveal dynamic colors and fitted with a bronze mirror. It is fitted with standard picture hanging hardware.
