In this piece the sunset opens the door for night to settle in. The night scene on the back is much more subtle. The disc is made from maple, twice turned on a lathe. The coloring is accomplished with dyes and paint. It was scald with lacquer finish. The arch is made from oak, ebonized and finished with oil and liming wax.
