Kathy Triplett
Keyhole Composition
Clay, mixed media
A native of Orangeburg, SC, Kathy attended the Universidad de las Americas in Puebla, Mexico and received her BA from Agnes Scott College in Georgia. While in Mexico, Kathy developed an interest in the geometric elements of that region’s Olmec and Aztec architecture, which led to an interest in Art Deco architecture and design. Though she began her career as a wheelthrower, she is now hand-building with slabs and coils. Kathy is author of Handbuilt Ceramics and Handbuilt Tableware and has exhibited and been included in collections throughout the world.
This piece incorporates found objects representing the natural world up against the manmade. It is a small glimpse of the integration of the two, through a keyhole in a door.
