Les Caison, III

Opening the Door
Oil and graphite on panel

Les Caison III is a North Carolina native.  His roots are planted in hard working Eastern N.C. immigrant farming lineage.  Growing up in Greensboro, Les furthered his creative talent amid a diverse student population while attending a high school where English was taught as a second language.  At Appalachian State University, he studied art in New York and Washington D.C. each semester and spent time in Europe while earning a B.F.A. in Studio Art.

Caison’s 11-year art career includes 17 solo shows, and 35 group exhibitions.  His patrons span the United States and overseas.  Les has public murals throughout North Carolina, and one in Georgia.  His audience continues to grow with each exhibition of new work.  In 2008 he was commissioned by Greensboro’s Elsewhere Collaborative Museum to paint an eight-panel mural on their building façade.  He also collaborated with “The High Heart” author Joseph Bathanti in conjunction with St. Andrews Presbyterian College’s 2008 Literary Program “One Book, One Community.”  Les is currently preparing for a 2010 solo exhibition in Asheboro.  He resides and paints in Asheville, N.C.
