All Good Things are Wild and Free

Moni Hill

All Good Things Are Wild and Free
Acrylic on Hollow Core Door

A mother of two young daughters, Moni spends the majority of her days tending to her domestic duties including her children, animals and home - but her mind and eyes rarely cease looking for inspiration for her paintings. Moni is dedicated to making art and doing the most with what she has - often painting on salvaged wood on a little table in the dark basement in the evening, while her daughters sleep.

In Moni Hill's trademark style, contrasting patterns and colors come together in bold and unexpected ways in this painting. Blue birds offer a hint of peace and groundedness. As always, look for the canvas patches that Moni adds to all of her paintings as a symbol of the way in which the patched up and mended pieces of our lives contribute to its overall beauty. Moni Hill's paintings push the boundaries between fine art and folk art. She draws her inspiration from many sources including graphic design, stone masonry, zingers (especially in quilting), abstract expressionism, minimalism, lomography, interior design and architecture.
