After earning a degree in Journalism and Public Relations from West Virginia University, Robb realized his passion was for making and designing furniture and not the crafting of words. Robb started Kamp Studio in 2004 and has been designing and making furniture for the last five years. He is continually inspired by the raw feel, honesty, rough beauty, and reality of folk art from around the world, and incorporates it into his woodworking, sculpture, and design.
This piece is a transition of the heart, mind, and soul, of new beginnings, opening new doors, of old ways, closing old doors, holding onto what is needed, not what is wanted.
This piece is a manufactured door that Robb sliced up on an awkward descending diagonal and put back together to give the appearance that the door is sliding apart.
