The inspiration for this painting comes from the artists interest in the house shape. Houses represent safety, solace, and in dreams, ourselves.
Susan McBride is a professional illustrator and graphic designer. She often combines monoprints from her own hand-carved stamps with her multi-media paintings. Theme for her work are often house and nature related.
Susan grew up in the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she was influenced by visuals of extreme wealth next to working class neighborhoods and industry.
Colorful houses sitting on steep hills over river basins where below steel mills smoked and belched fire were daily sites for the artist. She is a graduate of the Pittsburgh Art Institute and currently lives in Asheville with her family. Susan has participated in shows in Asheville, as well as Atlanta.
