Moni Hill

All is Well.  No matter what the news says
Acrylic and house paint on hollow core door

Cadmium yellows set the tone for this bold painting exploring the boundaries of fine and folk art.  The four birds are showcased as reminders of the importance of simplicity.

Moni was born in Germany and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. She eventually found her way to the hills of Appalachia in 1996 by way of Charlottesville, Virginia, where she moved to be with her husband. After a couple of moves up and down the Appalachian Mountains and two children later, they landed in Asheville.

I have been an artist all of my life, but my passion blossomed immensely once I quit my corporate jobs and began spending time in mountains, on rivers and in gardens. Now my art pours out of me thanks to the endless supply of inspiration from the beauty of my natural surroundings, the joy of my children and the spirit and culture of the Appalachian Mountains. As a wife and mother of two young daughters, I tend to get caught up in a whirlwind of activities and lose perspective of life. Painting transforms my anxieties into colorful expressions of what I am aiming for in my inner life: stillness, authenticity, gratitude, beauty and joy.
