Glen Rock

The Glen Rock is a mixed use, community development project near Asheville’s River Arts District and the South French Broad and Livingston neighborhoods. There are currently two buildings on the Glen Rock site, the “corner market” which now houses the Fine Arts League of the Carolinas, and the former Glen Rock Hotel which is slated for renovation in 2008-09.

As Phase I, MHO completed a total renovation of the Fine Arts League building in September 2007. This building was the old railroad company store (and more recently Asheville Packing Company).

MHO plans to break ground on the new building planned for the Glen Rock as well as the renovation of the old Glen Rock Hotel in mid-2008 and we will complete both projects by the middle of 2010, with some of the space available as early as June 2009.

We are currently leasing retail, gallery, and office space in the first floor of the new building which will front Depot Street, as well as on all three floors of the former Glen Rock Hotel. The Glen Rock development will feature both a parking structure and a surface parking lot with additional on-street parking.

For leasing information, please contact Russ Towers at Lewis Real Estate, 828-274-2479.

Located adjacent to Livingston Park’s baseball diamond and tennis courts, the Glen Rock is also within one mile of Asheville Middle and Asheville High schools, the YWCA (daycare, swimming & fitness center), Mission Hospitals’ campus, AB Tech, the River Arts District and downtown Asheville.

Planned at the Glen Rock are: one, two and three bedroom apartments which will be available for lease, studio space for artists; green space and playground; commercial, retail and office space; and future arts and wellness programs for neighborhood families. A future phase will add 25-30 condo and live-work units.
